Nungiaiu Village, Wosera District, Papua New Guinea

A Wosera male figure. Collected on a recent field trip to the Wosera district. We noted its name to be a “Wafi” figure; associated with the yam harvest, as is common with a lot of figures from these people. He is well carved with lovely form and decorated using “trade” paints. Weathered patina with minor loss to one foot. In great condition. Presented on a steel display stand.
