A beautiful etching of an Australian Aboriginal in ceremonial dress. This etching was produced using a photograph taken by Spencer & Gillen from around 1910. In beautiful condition, an original art work acquired from the estate sale of Abbotts Grandson here in Melbourne. Framed.

Early Murray River Aboriginal Leangle Club – tc191

An early Aboriginal Leangle Club. Carved from extremely hard wood in classic form, the raked beak like distal head with beautiful fiddle back on the inside of the curve. The handle decorated with a classic “rat-tail” grip below incised linear motif. All over smooth glossy patina from extensive handling. The back of the handle bears a collection number in red (42.374.5) and there is the remnants of a paper label on the front of the handle. This is a spectacular example of this style of club, in what can only be described as perfect condition. Early 19th Century, Custom mounted.
